This is Lance again.
I want to start off with a quote from Winston Churchill. If I offend anyone I am sorry I will try not to let it happen again "If you are going through hell, keep going!"
Kambry was still struggling to get her lungs open today. She had the Doctors stumped for a while. The day consisted of lots of imaging and waiting. They did multiple X-rays, 3 echos and an ultrasound. The Doctors still couldn't figure out why the lungs wouldn't inflate. Pulmonology came to look in her breathing tube with a camera to make sure there wasn't a clot or a mucus block. There wasn't anything in the tube. But the lungs from the cameras view looked healthy. So the last piece of imaging was ordered. This included a parade, with men in uniform to boot, to the CT scanner. About 12 people walked in unison down to the radiology department for the scan. It was an incredible scene!
The CT scan showed some fluid and a large blood clot in her upper chest..... Another surgery was ordered. It was deflating to hear this request. Lon and Heidi had to dig deep and really put their faith to the test. They are exhausted mentally and physically.
With the help of the big fella upstairs she made it through surgery unscathed and ready to move on. The surgeon discussed the results and he feels confident that the bleeding is stopped. Now we are waiting for the lungs to open up and get off the ecmo circuit.
After two very tough days Kambry has taken a step forward. Her better days are ahead.
I want to thank Paul Olson for stopping by the hospital today and reviving confidence in Lon and I. A brief act of words and prayer created a wave of faith and confidence.
Great work by the chief of surgery tonight. Dr. Crumblehome had God with him and he guided his hands to a successful surgery.
I am going to close with a paraphrased bible verse borrowed from Donalee Strand's comment in the last blog entry.
Isaiah 26-27 - It's darkest before dawn.
Thank you for the prayers!
The picture below is a cape that arrived in the mail at the hospital for Kambry today. It is her super hero cape. If you are curious about her super power it's spirit fingers!
