We were finally able to identify the culprit of the infection. Is was in the blood and the fluid pockets they extracted from her chest. Because they were able to identify it, they could come off the wide spread antibiotics and use one more specific to this bacteria. It was quite a relief to finally pinpoint where it was coming from, and it seems like it's starting to get under control. In the last 24 hours Kambry has made some big strides from where she was. Last night the oscillator was turned way up and it seemed like it couldn't go much higher. This morning when I got here, her settings had been cut in half and she seemed like she was on her way to a better place. They were able to ween her off blood pressure medication as well as take her off the paralytic she was on. Both things could go back on at anytime, but for the time being they are off. It was nice to have a day of no real episodes. We are so thankful for that.
They are talking about taking Kambry down to the Cath Lab and putting a camera in her vascular system to see if she has a clot somewhere. The reason they think she has a clot is her edema isn't coming down as fast as it should. This would also give some answers to how bad her pulmonary hypertension is. The neonatologists have to prove to the cardiologists that there is sufficient evidence to do the procedure. If the cardiologist doesn't agree with the evidence then Kambry will need a CT scan to see if there is indeed a clot. The neonatologists would like to skip this step because it's more work and dangerous to move her all around the hospital. We should find out the answer to that tomorrow.
The t-shirt pics continue to roll in and the nurses love coming over to see all the people rooting for Kambry. After so many ups and downs in the nicu, we have come to realize that you can't get too excited or too down about anything. Kambry is calling all the shots and she does things on her schedule!
Asher got to spend the weekend with his cousins at G&G camp (Grandma & Grandpa camp) up in Hatton. He had a blast, but we can't wait to see him this weekend when he comes out to Denver.
